In recent years, VNPT and Qualcomm have implemented a wide range of cooperation activities, spanning technology research and testing to product development. The VNPT–Qualcomm Excellence Center (VQEC) serves as a key hub connecting Qualcomm's technological capabilities with VNPT's research and development teams and product deployment capacity.
At VQEC, the two sides are jointly researching AI-powered edge devices, including next-generation Wi-Fi, AI Cameras, AI Boxes, AI Laptops and smart devices capable of performing AI processing directly on the device. This technology approach helps accelerate processing, enhance data protection and expand AI applications for businesses and consumers.
The partnership has also expanded into network technologies. Initial trials of AI applications for network analysis and optimization have demonstrated the potential to improve network quality, enhance customer experience and increase energy efficiency.
Previously, VNPT and Qualcomm signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation to support VNPT in developing a network architecture oriented toward AI-Native, Autonomous Network and Open Network principles, while preparing for 6G. This provides a foundation for the two sides to continue researching network management and data analytics platforms, as well as network automation solutions.
Expanding Cooperation in AI Infrastructure and Next-Generation Networks
At the meeting on August 27, VNPT and Qualcomm executives focused on opportunities to expand cooperation in emerging technologies, particularly AI and next-generation network technologies.

Cristiano Amon shared Qualcomm's strategy and latest technology development directions in areas including Edge AI, data centers and network automation. The two sides also discussed further strengthening VQEC's role in research and development, while gradually bringing jointly developed technology products into practical applications.
For VNPT, CEO Huynh Quang Liem proposed that Qualcomm continue to provide support in technology, expertise and ecosystem connectivity to accelerate the development and commercialization of products such as AI Wi-Fi Gateways, AI Cameras/AI Boxes and AI Laptops/Mini PCs. He also highlighted opportunities to help VNPT's technology products reach international markets.
Another key area of mutual interest is the plan to pilot next-generation AI Data Center solutions and expand the application of AI in network optimization and automation. These efforts aim to advance Autonomous Network and AI-Native architectures while gradually building the technological capabilities needed for 6G.
The discussions demonstrated that the VNPT–Qualcomm partnership is continuing to evolve from technology research and development toward testing, practical applications and product commercialization. The cooperation is expected to contribute to advancing Vietnam's digital and AI ecosystem.
