According to the People's Committee of Da Lat city, Da Lat City Police Department has recently put into operation the Traffic Surveillance and Management Center. This is an item under the project "Building Da Lat into a smart city" in the 2018-2025 period.

From 2020 until now, Da Lat City Police Department has coordinated with relevant agencies and units of Lam Dong province and Da Lat city, and VNPT to implement and build the center. The center has a system consisting of 35 high-quality cameras placed across major routes, intersections, and traffic lights in the city’s urban area.

Images from the system of the center will be sent to a server at the headquarters of the city’s police department, where officers can monitor traffic in real time via a board of screens.

By utilizing images collected by the cameras, AI-powered automatic warnings will assist authorities in identifying and promptly addressing urban traffic incidents, such as congestion, and other social order issues.

The camera network can keep track of other lawbreaking behaviors, such as lane crossing, wrong-way driving, as well as traffic light non-adherence, and can monitor vehicles in the blacklist.

In the coming time, the city’s police department will further incorporate additional detection capabilities, such as identifying speeding, improper stopping and parking, and vehicles accessing restricted areas.
