Along with two enterprises Viettel and MobiFone, VNPT Group recently signed an agreement to deploy and test the 5G network. The signing aims to contribute to early commercial deployment of 5G networks nationwide while ensuring urban and social aesthetics in general and enhancing the efficiency of enterprises' own infrastructure investments.

Through the process of research and agreement, three enterprises including VNPT, Viettel, and Mobifone have agreed and held a signing ceremony of the agreement on the trial deployment of 5G network sharing via online form, the content which focuses on two important solutions, namely mobile roaming test and multi-network radio access network (MORAN) sharing test.

If the agreements on sharing and using telecommunications infrastructure so far between businesses focus on passive infrastructure (stations, antenna masts, transmission…), this is the first time in Vietnam the sharing of telecommunications infrastructure at a higher layer such as active infrastructure, 5G radio access network equipment, etc has been tested. This trial deployment will contribute to the overall assessment of necessary contents, both technical and inter-network coordination mechanism to deploy 5G network.
