On February 25, 2021, the Ministry of Public Security officially launched the national database systems on population and citizen identification card issuance and management in the form of conferences involving the Ministry of Public Security and 63 Police of provinces and centrally run cities.
This is the largest IT project in Vietnam so far that has been incorporated with the application of modern technology in looking up information, making the handling of administrative procedures more convenient, reducing costs, saving travel time and better serving the people. VNPT Group is honored to participate in the process of building the most important database in this country.
Although the project implementation time is not much, the leaders of VNPT Group and the contractor consortium have confirmed the importance of the project and therefore have invested all resources to complete this historic task. According to experts, the database is regarded as "an expensive resource" and is one of the six core national databases that play an important role in the process of building e-Government, heading towards digital government, digital economy and digital society in Vietnam. The national population database gathers basic information of all Vietnamese citizens, which is standardized, digitized, stored and managed by information infrastructure for state management and delivery, translation of agencies, organizations and individuals. This is a large project that requires all parties to have strong information technology potential and experience in implementing large national projects.
The official time for VNPT and its partners to start building, setting up, testing and operating the national database system on population is about 5 months (from September 2020 to February 2021). Because of such importance and complexity, VNPT, as a leading partner, together with partners in the Joint Venture GTEL-ICT and Hadic have built and implemented in a methodical and prudent manner with the best technology to ensure that the system complies with level 4 standards on information security and safety as prescribed by the Government.
