The Prime Minister has appointed Mr. Pham Duc Long as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications.
Long was born on May 27, 1970. He holds a degree in telecommunications from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and a doctorate in electronics and telecommunications from the University of Tokyo (Japan).
Long has worked at many agencies and units in the information and telecommunications sector, such as Saigon Epro Messaging Center, MobileNet Mobile Radio Center, Call Link phone center, Ho Chi Minh City Post Office, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Division of HCM City Telecommunications Agency, Deputy Director and Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications Department, Chairman of the Members' Council and Deputy General Director, General Director, Chairman of the Members' Council of VNPT Group.
Speaking at the appointment ceremony, Deputy Minister Long said that he would join other leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications to focus their wisdom, energy, experience, and promote the spirit of solidarity, unity and responsibility to lead, direct and administer all activities of the Ministry.
He stressed that the Ministry of Information and Communications is facing a historic mission in the role of leading the national digital transformation. In that historic mission, the element of science and technology is the foundation. To promote its role, the Ministry of Information and Communications needs to focus on key solutions including reforming institutions, mechanisms and policies, and establishing a legal corridor to create leverage for the development of digital infrastructure and application of digital technology.
