As a leading telecommunications and IT group, VNPT has coordinated with the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs to implement the Project "Strengthening the application of information technology (IT) to support ethnic minorities in socio-economic development and ensuring security and order in Vietnam's ethnic minority areas in the period 2019 - 2025". VNPT will provide technology solutions, software products, and IT integration on its existing infrastructure and human resources to effectively deploy IT applications in the field of ethnic minority affairs of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs.
One of the factors preventing ethnic minority people from accessing telecommunications services is the lack of equipment such as computers, smartphones, televisions... as well as the inability to pay service fees. Therefore, it is necessary to have a plan to support, create maximum conditions, and encourage people to use telecommunications services.
According to the decision approving the Program to provide public telecommunications services until 2025 signed by the Prime Minister on December 31, 2021, supporting people to use telecommunications services is an important task which is given top priority. Accordingly, 400,000 poor households, near-poor households, policy families and other special policy beneficiaries are given 1 tablet or 1 smartphone each with priority given to households with members studying at general education establishments. In addition, there is a policy to partially support the cost of using fixed broadband Internet services and terrestrial mobile telecommunications services for households in difficult circumstances in remote areas.
