At the AI City Challenge 2024 - the world's leading competition for computer vision technology, VNPT's group of young engineers won first place in the most complex category: Detecting objects from fisheye cameras.
AI City Challenge is a contest within the framework of the CVPR conference, the most prestigious specialized conference in the field of computer vision. In addition to familiar topics such as multi-camera object tracking, traffic situations analysis and description, or detecting riders’ non-compliance with the helment mandate, AI City Challenge this year has announced a new highly complex category: Road Object Detection in Fish-Eye Cameras.
Currently, fisheye cameras are widely used in smart transportation systems in many advanced countries. This technology helps minimize blind spots and expand the field of view without increasing the number of cameras. Because of its high applicability, out of a total of 726 teams participating in the AI City Challenge 2024, up to 403 teams registered to compete in the challenge of detecting objects from fisheye cameras. For VNPT's group of young AI engineers, the new problem at this year's AI City Challenge is an opportunity to rub shoulders, and at the same time, affirm the position of “Make in Vietnam” technologies on the world’s AI map. The AI model used by the team of engineers in the main teste is one of the models that the group is applying to the development of VNPT SmartVision.
Recently, VNPT has developed VNPT SmartVision to meet the needs of image processing services in the market with four main feature groups: traffic monitoring, security monitoring, document digitization, face recognition and identification. For traffic and security monitoring, the solution has been implemented in many major provinces and cities such as Binh Phuoc, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Ha Nam, Tay Ninh, Bac Giang, and Ninh Binh.
It is known that in addition to traffic and security monitoring, VNPT is actively developing and applying AI image recognition in many important fields such as healthcare, education and digital payment. In the medical field, VNPT is also cooperating with the National Hospital of Endocrinology to apply this platform to supporting doctors in diagnosing and providing appropriate treatment regimens for thyroid cancer.
With the achievements, VNPT not only affirms its domestic standing but also contributes to the promotion of Vietnamese technologies to the world.
