According to newly updated data from the i-Speed Internet platform of the Vietnam Internet Centre, Ministry of Information and Communications, the Internet access speed in Vietnam in January 2025 increased the highest in the last 12 months. Noticeably, VNPT's fixed Internet network in January 2025 continues to have the best quality in Vietnam.
Specifically, the average download speed of mobile broadband in the country was recorded at 69.38 Mbps, the average upload speed was 25.44 Mbps. This is also the highest result in the 12 months from January 2024.
Considering only 5 provinces and cities statistically, Da Nang continues to lead with an average network speed of 95.81 Mbps. This result has helped Da Nang maintain its achievement for 8 consecutive months.
Following are the provinces of Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, and Hanoi. In general, network quality in provinces and cities in the past month has improved compared to December 2024.
On the business side, most mobile network quality is guaranteed to be stable, with not many changes recorded compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, fixed broadband network speed across the country in January 2025 also recorded the highest level in the past 12 months. Download speed was recorded at 144.66 Mbps and upload speed was 111.76 Mbps.
With a fixed broadband network speed measured at 168.99 Mbps, Hanoi maintains its status as the leading city in network quality among the 5 provinces of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Da Nang.
Notably, fixed broadband network speeds in Da Nang and Hai Phong both recorded a decrease compared to December 2024. However, network quality in Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City continues to improve in the first month of 2025.
According to the statistics provided by network operators, the provider having the best fixed Internet network quality in Vietnam in January 2025 continues to be VNPT with fixed broadband download speed of 181.56 Mbps and upload speed of 137.77 Mbps.
The quality of broadband and fixed Internet in Vietnam in the first month of 2025 is assessed to have improved significantly in the past 12 months, but there has not been much change compared to the last months of 2024. Despite growth, Internet mobile broadband still has a large difference between download and upload speeds.
Some experts said, Internet speed increased continuously after the deployment of 5G, bringing Vietnam to the top 40 globally for the first time in both mobile and fixed connections at the end of January 2025.
