In 2024, despite significant challenges in the Telecommunications and ICT market, VNPT through its persistent efforts and high determination has managed to maintain its market share in key services, optimize costs, and ensure that both revenue and profit continue to grow compared to the same period last year.
7% growth – a valuable figure amidst many challenges
Last year, the total revenue of VNPT reached VND 58,540 billion, with the parent company’s revenue amounting to VND 41,995 billion, achieving 100.1% of the plan and increasing by 7% compared to 2023. The group’s consolidated pre-tax profit for 2024 stood at VND 6,086 billion, with the parent company’s pre-tax profit reaching VND 4,565 billion, which is 103.3% of the plan, up by 3% compared to the same period in 2023. VNPT’s consolidated contribution to the state budget in 2024 reached VND 5,484 billion, with the parent company projected to contribute VND 4,137 billion, achieving 106.4% of the plan, marking a 36.5% increase compared to 2023. The group’s return on equity (ROE) reached 8.35%, with the parent company’s return on net profit to equity (ROE) at 6.5%, up by 29.5% compared to the target.
According to the VNPT’s leadership, the 7% revenue growth, while modest, is particularly valuable in a market with increasing challenges such as changes in market management policies, the halt of new SIM card development through agents, and slowing government spending on digital transformation projects. Despite these pressures, VNPT’s achievement of fulfilling its duties as one of the nation’s key technology groups while ensuring stable business operations is a significant accomplishment.
Recognizing these challenges and finding opportunities within the context, VNPT continues to enhance its telecommunications and ICT infrastructure by adopting new technologies such as AI, IoT, Cloud, 5G, and especially information security.
Over the past year, alongside enhancing its 4G network, VNPT officially launched VinaPhone 5G. By now, VinaPhone 5G is available in all 63 provinces and cities, with a focus on covering and providing services in key socio-economic areas such as administrative centres, industrial parks, seaports, airports, schools, hospitals, and tourist areas.
In 2024, VNPT has been actively seeking new products and driving revenue from new growth spaces with notable successes: The cybersecurity sector grew by 58% compared to the previous year and earned the CREST certification for its cybersecurity services – one of the most prestigious certifications that few organizations currently hold; the artificial intelligence sector grew by 60%, with standout products like AI cameras for smart cities and GenAI for customer care call centre analysis; and VNPT’s GenAI for the Vietnamese language has consistently ranked at the top of the Vietnamese Language and Speech Processing 2024 leaderboard. Additionally, VNPT has implemented a comprehensive digital agriculture ecosystem to meet the diverse needs of customers ranging from government bodies to businesses, cooperatives, and farmers, on two platforms: AIMS and VNPT Green.
