According to the latest report from i-Speed - the Internet speed measurement platform by the Vietnam Internet Centre (VNNIC), VNPT has been the fastest Internet provider in Vietnam for two consecutive months - December 2024 and January 2025 - with an average speed nearly 1.5 times higher than other providers.
Data from i-Speed shows that VNPT not only achieved the fastest Internet speed in Vietnam but also continued to increase its speed month after month. In December 2024, VNPT's Internet download speed was 140Mbps, while the upload speed was 111.88Mbps. By January 2025, the download speed had surged to 181.56Mbps, and the upload speed reached 137.77Mbps. Compared to the second-fastest provider, VNPT’s WiFi Internet speed was 1.5 times higher.
This achievement is the result of VNPT’s continuous efforts to upgrade infrastructure, optimize systems, and proactively increase Internet speeds by up to three times for all customers starting in December 2024—without any change in pricing. This move is part of VNPT’s roadmap to support the national information and communication infrastructure development, aiming for 100% of households nationwide to have access to fiber-optic Internet by 2025. Currently, VNPT holds the largest market share in Vietnam’s fiber-optic Internet sector, with nearly 10 million subscribers nationwide.
VNPT’s leadership in Internet speed is also attributed to its recent deployment of XGSPON technology. This advanced network is the first to offer symmetrical bandwidth, supporting maximum download and upload speeds of up to 10Gbps. Compared to the older GPON technology, XGSPON delivers four times faster download speeds and eight times faster upload speeds while minimizing latency, providing an unprecedented Internet experience in Vietnam.
According to VNPT, the XGSPON technology has been deployed in most provinces and cities across the country. With its high-speed Internet and cutting-edge technology, customers can enjoy enhanced experiences with 4K and 8K content, livestreaming, AR/VR gaming, online learning, and virtual conferences.
Looking ahead, VNPT plans to further improve WiFi Internet bandwidth to enhance customer experiences while offering attractive promotions. The provider is set to introduce new plans with a minimum speed of 300Mbps, expand XGSPON coverage, and offer integrated services such as entertainment TV packages, mesh WiFi, and next-generation security cameras, enabling customers to upgrade their "digital home" comprehensively.
